what did you wanna be when you grew up? ✨

If you would’ve told little Serena she’d be crocheting snuggly animals, I think she would be totally surprised… but really proud and happy!

For years, I wanted to be a vet. I loved volunteering at animal shelters… I was the weird 8th grader who did my end of year project on spaying/neutering (that was really fun to talk about with 13 year old boys 🥜✂️🤪)

Then in highschool I shifted… I loved storytelling, sharing people’s unique voices, and connecting with community. After joining our broadcast journalism program (where I met my husband!) I was on the track to be a news reporter. In college this shifted to social justice documentaries… and after graduation, I found myself in the world of reality tv as a producer. It was fun (and dramatic!!!), but when my daughter turned 1, I felt a calling to be home with her.

A few months later, @beachfoamco was born. It’s the best of both worlds - I still get to be creative, tell stories, connect with community + spend lots of time with my little bestie!

It’s funny how your life path unfolds and you may never have been able to imagine where you’d end up — but I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunity and privilege to be home with my little one + making comforting treasures for other little ones around the world! 💖
